10-31-21, Marcena Randall Brook, 79

Marcena died from Alzheimer’s-related complications on October 31, 2021, in Mesa, AZ. Marcena was born to George A. Randall and Margaret L. (Mercer) Randall on October 2, 1942, in Ventura and grew up in Ojai, CA.

A cheerleader for Nordhoff High School, she graduated in 1960, where she met and later married Gary C. Kuehl in 1961. In 1973, she earned her Associate of Arts degree from Santa Barbara City College, followed by a Bachelor of Arts degree from Antioch University in 1978.

She was passionate about creating art in many different mediums, including sewing clothes, fabric art, drawing, painting, and sketching. With an eye for color, she lived a carefree and colorful life… making like-minded friends in California, Oregon, Washington and Arizona.

Living in Santa Barbara in the ‘70s, she enjoyed dancing and banging on the drums in her African dance class, supporting various feminist movements, and spending time in nature, especially at the beach.

Most recently, she was responsible for “planting” several Peace Poles in the Payson, AZ area, with the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in four different languages.

She is predeceased by her father George Randall, mother Margaret Randall, and brother Randy Randall. She is survived by brothers Joe (Barbara) Randall and Robb Randall; three daughters Lori (Scott) McDonald, Crissy (Richard) Sandoval, Janet (Todd) Verch; five grandchildren Darryl (Amanda) Kuehl, Melissa Marcena McDonald, Ian McDonald, Sedona Verch, and Skyler Verch; three great-grandchildren Kodiak Kuehl, Tanker Kuehl and baby McDonald.

There will be a private family gathering for Marcena’s celebration of life, but welcome condolences, memories, and funny stories.
