Board fills seat vacated by Golden State Water

The Ojai Basin Groundwater Management Agency (OBGMA) appointed a new director at its Aug. 30 meeting.
The newly created and vacant community facilities director position will be filled by Richard Hajas, an Ojai man with 40 years of experience in water and wastewater management.
Hajas — a member of Ojai F.L.O.W. and the Ojai Valley Water Advisory Group (which wrote the “Three Sisters Plan”) — will serve a three-year term on the five-member Board of Directors.
“The primary reason I was interested in serving on the Board was because F.L.O.W. was instrumental in replacing Golden State, and the Ojai basin has been the primary supply for Ojai and the entire east end of the valley for well over a century,” Hajas said, “and if I can help preserve that supply for the future, it would be an honor to serve.”
