Group studying need for later school start times

Andra Belknap, Ojai Valley News reporter
Nordhoff High School junior Cassidy Rosenbaum believes Nordhoff's 7:40 a.m. start time is too early and she's joined an Ojai Unified School District (OUSD) committee to try to change that.
OUSD's Later Start Time Committee met for the second time Nov. 15. Rosenbaum is one of three student members.
The Committee was tasked with examining later start times for Ojai's middle and high school students and presenting its findings to the OUSD School Board.
The 16-member panel is comprised of OUSD administrators, teachers, students and parents.
“I definitely do not get enough sleep at night,” said Rosenbaum. “Sometimes I'll go to sleep at 11 p.m. and set my alarm for 4 a.m. so I can finish my homework,” she said.
