After 28 years, the Ojai Film Society (OFS) isn't quite calling it quits, but it will scale back its showings for the rest of 2017 — a cultural casualty in the wake of the Ojai Playhouse Theater flood.
“Our existence is tied to a venue,” OFS President Marty Harris said Feb. 14. “The Film Society simply cannot continue to exist without a theater.” The society's regular series of Sunday movies would be suspended after the Feb. 19 screening of “The Chicken People” at the Ojai Art Center Theater, he said.
