Ojai police got to the root of a theft after recovering a pair of plants taken from a nursery in Oak View. Two rare succulents — each a variety of Haworthia truncata — valued by Desert Images Nursery at $500 and $750 were reported missing Nov. 18 from the 500 block of Prospect Street.
“Luckily, an employee at the location was alert and recognized the suspect from a previous visit and made a note of the suspect's license plate number,” Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Det. Joe Mulrooney said Dec. 2. “We prepared a photo lineup with a picture of the suspect included, from which the employee was able to make a positive identification.”
