Golden opportunity: Utility looks to tighten restrictions

Bill Warner, Ojai Valley News reporter
Not everyone in Ojai was glued to the Clinton-Trump debate Oct. 19. Approximately 22 people were in the Matilija Junior High School Auditorium, the scene of a public outreach meeting organized by the Golden State Water Company (GSWC).
GSWC, which has approximately 2,900 connections in its Ojai service area, called the meeting to discuss the particulars of its recently announced plan to implement Stage 3 water conservation regulations Nov. 4, pending approval by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC).
One audience member thought the turnout was something of an embarrassment. It’s a shame, she said, that with 2,900 customers in the area, fewer than 29 should have shown interest in such an important issue.
The meeting, lasting the better part of two hours, was lively nevertheless; the interaction between the audience and GSWC staff was amicable.
