Track coach ouster on OUSD agenda

Andra Belknap, Ojai Valley News reporter
Nordhoff High School's decision to retain current track and field head coach and math teacher Dave Settem over sprint and middle-distance coach Ed Italo has caused controversy among some Nordhoff athletes and their parents. The issue will be presented to the Ojai Unified School District's (OUSD) School Board Tuesday at the request of Ojai resident Ben Edwards, whose daughter runs track at Nordhoff.
Nordhoff assistant principal and athletic administrator Dave Monson confirmed he will meet with the School Board in closed session Tuesday to discuss the situation. The meeting will be held in closed session because confidential personnel information will be discussed, said Monson.
The Board also will hear comments from concerned students and parents during its regular meeting Tuesday. The regular meeting is open to the public.
