Movie Night at the parking lot of Nordhoff High School, fitting just 100 vehicles, is a treat on Friday and benefits a good cause.

Movie Night Under the Stars! on Friday, July 31, presented by Rotary Club of Ojai at Nordhoff High School, was a big hit, with cars lining up to get into the school parking lot at 7:30 p.m.

With a limit of just 100 vehicles, the Movie Night quickly sold out on Friday. Proceeds will go to the school district "Family Fund" to help families in need.

Screening was "The Peanut Butter Falcon," starring Shia LaBeouf and Dakota Johnson. Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 96% audience score. It describes the movie as "a modern Mark Twain style adventure story" that "tells the story of Zak (Zack Gottsagen), a young man with Down syndrome, who runs away from a residential nursing home to follow his dream of attending the professional wrestling school of his idol, The Salt Water Redneck (Thomas Haden Church). A strange turn of events pairs him on the road with Tyler (Shia LaBeouf), a small-time outlaw on the run, who becomes Zak's unlikely coach and ally. Together, they wind through deltas, elude capture, drink whisky, find God, catch fish, and convince Eleanor (Dakota Johnson), a kind nursing home employee charged with Zak's return, to join them on their journey."

Attendees were allowed to sit outside their vehicles and in truck-bed, etc., but were required to stay within the footprint of their assigned parking space, unless using the restroom. Face masks were required to be worn while passing other groups and social-distancing protocols were strictly enforced.

According to an Ojai Unified School District press release: "This is a fun opportunity for our community to gather in a family-friendly and socially distanced way, thanks to the generous support of our partners in education, Rotary Club of Ojai, and city of Ojai government."
