Casitas to hold special meeting regarding coronavirus emergency March 21

The Casitas Municipal Water District Board of Directors will hold a special meeting on Saturday, March 21, at 9 a.m. to consider an emergency declaration and orders regarding the COVID-19 public health emergency.
Among the contents of the order are the proposed suspension of conservation penalties for the billing periods of February, March and April, to provide economic relief to customers who will be in their homes more during the emergency.

In addition, directors will consider waiving all billing delinquency fees and penalties for the same three month period.

The order would also suspend all water service shutoffs for non-payment until further notice, so the public can have access to water during the public health emergency.
Directors will also consider cancelling all standing board and committee meetings during the Casitas-declared emergency, so the board will have flexibility to schedule meetings on short notice to cope with changing conditions.
The emergency declaration would remain in place for 30 days from the date of approval, unless acted upon by the board to either terminate or extend its duration.
The meeting starts at 9 a.m. and will be held via teleconference. To listen to the meeting, call (888) 788-0099 or (877) 853-5247 (toll free in the United States) and enter meeting ID 235-137-611.
According to CMWD general manager Michael Flood, Casitas also plans to livestream the meeting at www.casitaswater.org.
