Planning Commission quorum issue illustrated March 6

Austin Widger, Ojai Valley News reporter
The Ojai Planning Commission canceled its March 6 regular meeting due to a lack of a quorum.
This means that out of a seven-member commission, at least four of the members are unable to attend the meeting. Four of the seven being present constitutes a quorum.
The timing of this cancellation follows the Ojai City Council’s Feb. 12 vote to introduce an ordinance to reduce the Planning Commission to five members with two-year terms. Under this format, each council member and the mayor would be able to appoint one commissioner. The dwindling of the commission down to five members would be done through attrition. Under these new provisions, three of the five members being present would constitute a quorum, much like the City Council.
