Nordhoff High School alumnus Cody Deason is entering his junior year at the University of Arizona and if things play out as expected, he may never see his senior season on the baseball diamond for the Wildcats. Deason, who was a star pitcher for the Rangers, continues to impress major league baseball scouts. D1baseball.com recently released its top 100 draft prospects for 2018 and ranked the big right-hander No. 70. Deason and the Wildcats will open their 2018 season when they host Bryant University Feb. 16. See future editions for the Ojai Valley News for more updates on Deason’s path to the 2018 baseball draft.
