Authorities arrested an Oak View man on suspicion of drunk driving after a solo, major injury crash last weekend on Highway 33, approximately 25 miles north of Ojai.

-467 new cases since yesterday (+ in Ojai, + in Oak View)

-67,533 total cases

-62,387 recovered cases

-4,582 active cases

-938,100 tests performed

-390 hospitalizations

-82 in the ICU

-564 deaths (+18 since yesterday)

-10.2% ICU capacity remaining countywide (This calculation is based on staffed ICU beds and the high percentage of COVID-19 patients in the ICU.)

-14.6% ICU capacity remaining in Southern California region

Ojai Valley residents who find themselves in an emergency situation can get free sand and sandbags at all four local fire stations. According to the Ventura County Fire Department, sandbags are available at:

An innovative approach to tracking coronavirus in the Oxnard sewer plant has led to the confirmed discovery of a minute amount of a COVID-19 variant that is “hyper-transmissible,” according to Ventura County Public Health Officer Dr. Robert Levin, who reported its discovery to the Ventura County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday.

Alissa Diessner, 33, and Jeffrey Jackson, 25, both of Santa Barbara, were arrested after a man reported being carjacked at the Vons in Ojai on Jan. 25.

Ojai deputies arrested a man and a woman suspected of a carjacking at the Vons in Ojai on Jan. 25 at 8:52 p.m. The deputies used a crime-fighting tool called the Advanced Real-Time Information Center to catch the two suspects from Santa Barbara.
