general comment: The local Von's alway smells bad, especially meat department and has a general filthy dirty feel.  Starr market is high priced and has lousy selection.  Rainbow Bridge is waaaay overpriced as is Westridge.  Westridge can always be caught seeling thing past the expiration dates.  I find it so well worth a trip to Ventura to shop at the Vons on Thompson and then go on out to Trader Joe's, where I ALWAYS run in to at least one person I know from Ojai.   The prices at TJ's make it worth the trip down the hill.  I consider this shopping entertainment as well as a must-do so I factor that in to the fuel cost.                                                             entertainment as well as a
