Operation Cheer at the Continuing Care Center began Nov. 6, with Gayel Childress engaging the patients with paint, brushes and a canvas on which to paint flowers.
It was a great beginning for the Wednesday afternoon events.

I cannot understand why anyone would need or want to get a supposedly purebred dog or cat from a puppy mill or breeder.
We all know that so-called purebred dogs and cats are a mix of other breeds, don’t we?
And, are any of us so-called humans purebreds?

I think my last letter needs this footnote. I just realized this: I am a unique person in that I spent most of my life exploring prejudice, trying to rise above the prejudices which were a part of my parents’ everyday language. As I matured, my eyes and ears opened, and I deeply rebelled against and felt offended by all their prejudices.
