Santa Paula's Isaac Ramirez scored a game-high 20 points to help the Cardinals outlast Nordhoff 50-44 in a Tri-Valley League contest Friday night. The Rangers jumped out to an early 11-0 lead in the first quarter, but then the Cardinals fought back to take the lead in the second and held on for their second win of the season.
The Rangers trailed by as many as nine points, but then took the lead back from the Cardinals in the fourth quarter. NHS led 44-43 with 1:30 to play in the game until Santa Paula pulled away late in the game. Junior Luke Boyd led the Rangers with 16 points and six rebounds while Ricardo Hernandez added 11 points and five boards.
