The Nordhoff Rangers captured the Tri-Valley League title Friday night when they defeated the Bishop Diego Cardinals, 35-14. NHS jumped out to a 14-0 on the back of the two first quarter touchdowns by Baylee Rogers.
Bishop Diego would fight back and the Rangers took a 21-14 lead into halftime. In the second half, Austin Santino and Shane Hersh both added rushing touchdowns. The Nordhoff defense was solid all night, holding the explosive Bishop Diego rushing attack in check.
Rogers finished the game with 113 yards and three touchdowns. On defense, Hersh led the Rangers with 10 tackles.
The game was hotly contested as both Nordhoff and Bishop Diego fought for the right to be called Tri-Valley League champions. The loss was the first of the season for the Cardinals.
Nordhoff will find out who their first round playoff opponent will be on Sunday.
