Team Merlin 4-0 in Junior Team Tennis play at Libbey

Merlin performed yet another magic act in Junior Team Tennis (JTT) as they once again came from behind for their third one-point win as they improved to 4-0 dropping Supernatural, 13-12. Mary O'Reilly and Claire Quackenbush led off for Super with a 6-0 win. Rosie Quackenbush and Elizabeth Russell came back with singles wins for Merlin, then teamed up for a 6-4 doubles win to clinch the one point win.

Big Bang Theory improved to 3-1 as they also escaped with a one-point win standing up the Bachelors, 17-16. Andres Aguirre and Veronica Palmer of Big Bang took the final doubles set 6-4 to tie the match at 16, then took the final game by a single point to win the super tiebreaker.
Pokemon was tied with Chuck at nine games apiece when Gemma Quackenbush and Hina Suzuki outsteadied Charlie Coughlin and Dakota Martin 6-3 to clinch the match. Sponge Bob won to stay in a three-way tie for first in the odd division, defeating White Collars, 16-9. Elias Simon, Victor Becker, and Daniel Ortiz won for the Bobs.
Psych won their first match of the season as they Psyched out America's Got Talent, 17-15. The match came down to a tie-breaker as Max Mendoza and Jack Du defeated Jules Thompson and Inigo Aguirre, 6-5 (7-4).
Merlin has now built up a two-game lead in the even division as they moved to 4-0, followed by Bachelor at 2-2, White Collars and AGT at 1-3 and Chuck at 0-4. In the odds, the Bobs, Pokemon, and Big Bang are all 3-1, while Supernatural is 2-2, and Psych is 1-3. JTT is sponsored by the Ojai Valley Tennis Club.
In adult WTT action, Red Rigatonis had a miraculous comeback against the previously unbeaten Purple Penne. The Reds Luke Sommer and Brice Pace were down 4-1 and came back to win, 8-7. Penne dominated the next three matches to build a 25-12 lead going into the mixed doubles. Sommer and Celeste Manolas won, 8-2, then won seven straight games in the super tie-breaker to clinch a 28-27 win.
Teal Tortiglionis moved into a tie for first boiling Black Angel Hair, 33-12. Eric Harrington, Brandon Boudet, Janet Lawry, and Heather Miller won sets for the Tortiglionis. The Tortiglionis and Penne are tied at 3-1, followed by Rigatonis at 2-2, and Angel Hair at 0-4.
