In case you weren’t aware an election is approaching this November, the tell-tale signs are all around you — quite literally.
The city of Ojai is the only municipality in Ventura County which requires candidates to pay for a permit to post campaign signs. The cities of Camarillo, Oxnard, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Ventura, Moorpark, Fillmore, Santa Paula and Port Hueneme all have various rules about getting permission from property owners and not posting signs in the public right-of-way, but they do not require candidates to pay any fee or obtain any permit. Ojai charges candidates $90 for a campaign sign permit.
