The Soule Senior Men's Golf Club recently held a partners net best ball event as part of their August competition and had solid performances by a number of golfers. In flight one, Jeff Polan and Bill Wood took top honors with a 57.
Second place went to the team of Earl Whetsell and Dietmar Mages with a 61. With the help of a scorecard playoff, George Lawhead and Richard McArthur finished in first place in the second flight with a 57. Also carding a 57 but finishing second was the team of Larry Memel and Joe Garcia. Another scorecard playoff was needed to settle the winners in flight three. First place went to Jon Dieges and Jerry Glanville and second position was earned by Tom Sheehan and Pete Conforti, both teams finished at 61.
Aug. 25, the club held an individual low gross and low net event from designated tees.
Flight one was played from the orange tees. In the low gross portion, Todd Tanner was first with a 78. Coming in second was Whetsell, with 80. In the low net competition, Wood was first with a 73 while Mages finished in second place with 74.
Flight two, which was played from the avocado tees, was won by Gary Markley (low gross) with an 84. In second was Garcia with 85. In the low net portion, Jim Maxwell was first with 63 and Alex Doran with finished in second place.
Flight three was played from the lemon tees. In the low gross portion, Len Block was first with 88 and Tom Murphy was second with 97. In the low net competition, Art Simpson was first with 69 and Dieges was second with 71.
