McGhee selected to represent USA in Austria

MiKyla McGhee, a junior at Nordhoff High School, was recently selected to play with Team USA High School Basketball in Austria next summer as part of the United World Games. As part of the competition, McGhee will face 35 other countries. She will be leaving June 12 to meet the team in New York and then will travel to Austria June 13 to 22. McGhee is varsity starter for the Lady Rangers and plays for the Ojai Lightning as well. The Ojai Valley community can help support McGhee’s trip by visiting her Go Fund Me page at and through her holiday Sees candy sales around Christmas and Valentine’s Day.

Thacher team does well at state meet

The Thacher cross country program continues to be one of the best high school distance running programs in California. Last week the Toads raced in the CIF State Meet and all team members had good days on the 3.1-mile course. Team Sapphire captured first place in the fall 2015 Junior Team Tennis league with a 16-13 come-from-behind win over team Pink. Pictured (from left to right) is league director Rick Thompson, Shawn Rothermel, Max Mendoza, and Robert Russell.
