AT&T tells city it will pull application for cell tower, relocate outside city limits

Monday, AT&T notified the city of Ojai that it is actively pursuing an alternative location to its currently-proposed wireless site at 1290 Grand Ave. AT&T's alternative location is expected to be approximately 700 feet north/northeast of the previous site, outside the city limits. The county of Ventura would be the permitting agency for any requests outside the city limits.
The alternative site is expected to be located among existing trees north of Grand Avenue, which is the city boundary in that area.
AT&T has told city officials that it will withdraw its application for the 1920 Grand Ave. site today. If AT&T does that, the city will cancel a special Ojai Planning Commission meeting that had been scheduled for tomorrow.
The City Council has directed city staff to work with AT&T and the county in support of the alternative location.
