VCRWD Fixes Break, Hikes Water Rates

At Feb. 8's regular board meeting of Ventura River County Water District, board members discussed a water main break which occurred at 2:30 a.m. the same day on Saddle Mountain, at the corner of Feliz and Encino drives. A 3-foot-long, 4-inch-wide gash in the asbestos-cement pipe resulted in a loss of 667,992 gallons of water. While there was no property damage, the break lasted two hours and 35 minutes, spewing out over 4,000 gallons per minute, and resulted in a loss of $1,330.63 to the water utility company. Bert Rapp,
