Motorists traveling weekdays on Santa Ana Road should expect delays in the months ahead as construction gets under way for new bicycle lanes between Skyhigh Drive and the entrance to Lake Casitas.
“Construction will begin April 24,” said Christopher Hooke, deputy director of the Ventura County Department of Transportation. Phase one, he said, will cover 1.7 miles beginning at Skyhigh Drive.
The Camarillo-based J&H Engineering will be working on the lanes from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays, Hooke said. During those hours, traffic through the work zone would be one lane, controlled by flag men. “Motorists should expect waits as long as 15 minutes,” Hooke said.
