Ever wonder what goes on in your garden when you're not around? The answer, evidently, is “a lot.” That's the view, anyway, of Ojai artists Samuel D. and Liam, whose claymation study of sneaky snakes, slippery snails and freewheeling eyeballs might leave you trying to remember where you hid the Sevin Dust.
The two filmmakers are students in artist Colleen McDougal's current Art and Animation class offered at the Boyd Center by the Ojai Recreation Department.
“I'm having a heck of a lot of fun,” McDougal said April 6. “They like drawing to begin with, but when they come to class and see their drawings move, their eyes really light up.”
Art classes have been available through the Recreation Department for many years, McDougal said, including sessions devoted to cartooning. The 2016-2017 classes have been a first, though, for stop-motion animation.
