Ojaians are invited to step 100 years back in time April 8, in recognition of the first Ojai Day — a 1917 celebration during which Edward Drummond Libbey deeded the Libbey Park property to the Ojai Civic Association.
Attendees are encouraged to dress in 1917 period garb to commemorate the occasion, that will include live music, tennis matches and a car show — just as the original did 100 years ago.
Local actor James Lashly will play the role of Libbey, and will deliver a speech to the community based on remarks Libbey gave April 7, 1917.
