Motorists and cyclists will be a little better disposed for sharing Santa Ana Road by the end of the year. Meeting in regular session March 14, the Ventura County Board of Supervisors (BOS) was unanimous in approving phase one construction for new bike lanes along the thoroughfare.
“It will improve the safety of the road for both cyclists and cars,” said Christopher Hooke, deputy director of the Ventura County Department of Transportation, “because there's going to be a 4-foot shoulder on both sides for 5 miles.”
When completed, Hooke said, the new lanes would be continuous from Skyhigh Drive to the entrance gates at Lake Casitas.
