A day-long fundraiser March 19 at the Deer Lodge raised $3,800 to benefit The Girls Empowerment Workshop, according to Deer Lodge Executive Chef Marcus Hollingsworth.
Hollingsworth, a self-described feminist, conceived the fundraiser in the days after President Donald Trump's election in November.
“I realized how easy it is to just be bitter and complain about things. I wanted to do something,” he said.  “I imagined what I could do and this fundraiser, in its basic form, came to mind. The world needs empowered women now more than ever.”
The event, that ran from noon to 9 p.m., included local musicians, artists and vendors.
