Ojai woman pleads guilty in school theft

Bill Warner, Ojai Valley News reporter

An Ojai woman has pleaded guilty to three felony counts of misappropriating school funds, according to Ventura County District Attorney Gregory Totten.

Ladonna Fulcher entered the pleas Feb. 23 at an early disposition conference in Ventura County Superior Court.

An employee of the Ojai Unified School District (OUSD) for nearly 10 years, Fulcher, 49, was arrested July 2, 2015 on suspicion of grand theft by embezzlement.

Over a two-year period ending June 2015, Totten's office contended, Fulcher issued a series of fraudulent OUSD checks with a cumulative estimate of $64,000 to cover payment for her rent, groceries, car and other expenses.

Facing a maximum prison term of six years, Fulcher has been scheduled for sentencing March 23.
