Natalie Gelman saw her first Bon Jovi concert when she was 10.
The New York native will leave her Ojai home Feb. 28 to serve as the opening act that night for Jon Bon Jovi at Sacramento's Golden 1 Center.
“My older sister was a huge Bon Jovi fan, I always heard his music through her, growing up,” recalled Gelman. “She had someone she was going to go to the show with and they didn't end up going, so she decided, 'ok I'll take you.'”
“I'd been to concerts before, but I had no idea about the arena. We didn't have amazing seats, but I felt the music. I felt my body vibrate. I felt the music go through me,” she said. “I remember observing it. Watching him and watching the audience. I realize what an impression that made on me. That was a really big moment for me, where I probably decided I wanted to be up on that stage.”
