Lake Casitas storm aftermath

After receiving 5.5 inches of rain in 24 hours, the Ojai Valley took advantage of a break in the weather to assess the damage Feb. 18. The largest benefactor of the rain, Lake Casitas, also suffered its share of problems. Santa Ana Creek, that flows through the lake's campgrounds, toppled trees and eroded ground close to several campsites. Debris partially blocked a colvert, causing water to flow over the road until it could be cleared by workers (below).

At the Santa Ana Boat Ramp, near the Marina Cafe, the creek erodes a channel as it enters the main body of the lake.
