The Rotary Club of Ojai recently named Dillon Rothermel its Physical Education Project Student of the Month. He was joined by his parents Randy and Shelly Rothermel and teacher Sheri Usher. “I want to thank my teacher, Mrs. Usher, for nominating me for this award, and the Rotary Club for giving me this award,” Dillon explained. “I am the third person in my family to receive the Student Athlete Award. My sister got it in high school, my brother got it three years ago in sixth grade and now, it’s my turn. I am 12 years and I am in sixth grade. I go to Summit School. I have been at Summit since kindergarten. I am the school president and I have lots of responsibilities. I lead the Student Council once a month and every day the flag salute. I am the only sixth-grader and so every morning I put up the school flag. At the end of the day, I take the flag down. I want to thank my teacher, Mrs. Usher. She is a great teacher. She has grades third, fourth, fifth and sixth. But, she always has time for me. I also want to thank my aide, Mrs. Lindsay, who helps me every day. Again, I would like to thank the Rotary Club for their service to the community by honoring Ojai students.”
