Overall, the customers of the Ventura River Water District (VRWD) have been doing a good job of meeting conservation requirements. A couple of neighborhoods aren't, though, and their residents could be looking at penalties by the end of VRWD's current fiscal year.
Those neighborhoods include 173 houses in Casitas Springs and 73 houses in the Monte Via/Rio Monte area of Oak View.
“We are sending letters to them, notifying the residents that their neighborhood is not meeting conservation requirements,” VRWD General Manager Bert Rapp said Nov. 23. “They'll have seven more months to meet requirements. If everyone pulls together during that time, the penalties can be avoided.”
