Ojai Unified School District (OUSD) superintendent Hank Bangser referred to the aftermath of the Nov. 8 general election as “difficult days for some of our district’s families” in a letter to students, parents and community members Nov. 14.
“The morning after the election I had many children expressing what a difficult night it had been for their families,” said Meiners Oaks Elementary School teacher Aimee Mendoza. “Several children said that they were sad that their families were going to be deported in January. One student said, ‘I am going to miss my friends in this class when I have to go back to Mexico in January.’”
