There's water in them thar hills. That's the strong conclusion of a recent study, at any rate, and the Casitas Municipal Water District (CMWD) is hoping an aquifer in the Santa Ynez Mountains will provide a critical resource for dealing with drought.
The CMWD Board of Directors heard a review of the proposal, along with other possible drought resources, when it met Nov. 9.
“This has been a long time coming,” CMWD Director Russ Baggerly said Nov. 8. “I started thinking about it at the first of the year, and now, because of our extreme situation, we're moving on it. We have a lot more information than before.”
