Ojai Valley skies might have been overcast for a weekend, but the solar season still prevails. In fact, it never really ends hereabouts, something long known both to The Thacher School, whose new array of 2,898 photovoltaic panels is running strong, and to the Ojai Valley Green Coalition, which has extended this year's Solarize Ojai Valley program through Nov. 15.
“It's running perfectly well,” said Ed Bennett, director of facilities for Thacher, referring to the school's 676,139-watt solar-power system inaugurated in October. “Right now it's production appears to be averaging about 7 percent ahead of what we'd expected.”
