Despite losing its regular season finale to the Orcutt Academy, the Villanova Preparatory School (VPS) football team enjoyed its most successful season in recent memory. The Wildcats finished 7-2 overall and 2-2 in the Condor League. VPS earned an at-large bid to the CIF Southern Section playoffs and will host Coast Union High School Nov. 5 at 3 p.m. on the Villanova campus.
For VPS, junior quarterback Reagan Mang continues to have a spectacular season. Mang has thrown for 380 yards and six touchdowns this season, but most of his damage has been on the ground. He has carried the ball 99 times and rushed for 1,210 yards on his way to 22 touchdowns. Mang and company will look to advance to into the playoffs where they could meet Thacher in the semifinals should both teams advance.
