Water regulations for households in Golden State Water Company's (GSWC) Ojai service area could be changing soon. In a letter dated Oct. 7, the water provider informed customers they would be under Stage 3 conservation rules as of Nov. 4.
A public outreach meeting has been scheduled for Oct. 19 at Matilija Junior High School, according to the letter.
GSWC Coastal General Manager Mark Zimmer is slated to lead the Oct. 19 meeting. “Wednesday’s meeting is an opportunity for customers to learn more about local drought conditions and the steps we are taking to ensure a safe and reliable source of supply is available for the remainder of this year and beyond,” he said Oct. 17. “While some parts of the state have received much-needed relief from dry conditions, local water supply levels have continued to decline to alarming levels and the Ojai Valley is currently at ‘Exceptional Drought’ status. This is a critical time when we, as a community, must significantly reduce our water usage.”
