The Community Memorial Health System (CMHS) will host a free seminar on colon cancer Oct. 1. Colon cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death in men and women in the United States. The League of Women Voters of Ventura County will host a candidate forum for the positions of Ojai Mayor, Ojai City Council and Ojai Unified School District's (OUSD) Board. The forum will be hosted Oct. 13 at the Jack Boyd Community Center, 510 Park Road in Ojai. The OUSD candidates will be hosted from from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., followed by the City Council candidates from 7:30 p.m. to 8:05 p.m. and the Ojai Mayor candidates from 8:15 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Sunset School has been awarded the California Title One Academic Achievement Award. The award is designed to honor Title One schools that have demonstrated success in significantly closing the achievement gap between high and low-performing students.
