Following a Sept. 20 discussion and vote on closing Summit Elementary School, the Ojai Unified School District (OUSD) Board will receive an update on Measure J, the “Save Our Schools” bond measure passed in 2014.
Although the bond will raise $35 million, the District's construction firm, Balfour Beatty Construction, has identified nearly $100 million in needed maintenance and construction projects on the OUSD campuses.
Balfour Beatty identified approximately $30.6 million in maintenance projects in District's five elementary schools alone.
Elementary school projects that are an immediate concern — those in disrepair or not compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act — will cost approximately $11.3 million.
