The Ojai City Council decided against adopting a temporary moratorium on swimming pools and new commercial developments requiring water connections.
Meeting Sept. 13, the Council voted 3-2 against the measure restricting commercial development. Mayor Paul Blatz and Councilwoman Betsy Clapp voted in favor and Councilmen Severo Lara and Randy Haney and Ojai Mayor Pro Tem William Weirick voted against.
If approved, the moratorium would have been good for 45 days — an interim in which Clapp had hoped water conservations standards could be drawn up for new development.
