The Casitas Municipal Water District (CMWD) will take an active role in ongoing discussions for regional access to state water. The Board of Directors was in agreement Sept. 14 that CMWD General Manager Steve Wickstrum should represent the District as an involved participant.
In part, the action was a response to a study initiated by the city of Ventura and the Calleguas Water District pursuant to expanding existing infrastructure to connect into the State Water Project (SWP). That study, for which Ventura has issued a request for qualifications from engineers, would entail the construction of aproximately 7 miles of pipeline along California State Route 118 from Price Road into Saticoy, thereby allowing Ventura — and, potentially, the Ojai Valley — access to water from SWP as well as water from several other sources.
