The city of Ojai will open a dialogue about the area's diminishing water when the City Council meets Aug. 23. The Council's agenda calls for an examination of the city's role in water conservation and consumption.
Councilwoman Betsy Clapp raised the issue during the Council's Aug. 9 meeting. Specifically, she cited the prospect of a moratorium on new water connections as the city's best course of action in striving for sustainability. “Right now, I would say we have a legal and moral responsibility to take action to protect our water supply,” she said.
