Emergency crews responded to a petroleum fire near the Upper Ojai summit at 8:43 a.m. Aug. 5.

An oil tank holding approximately 4,000 gallons of oil exploded and caught fire, according to emergency traffic.

Two patients were reportedly being treated from the initial explosion.

As of 9:10 a.m., the oil tank was still burning but had not spread to the nearby brush.

Firefighters on the scene reported they intended to let the tank continue to burn and would monitor the site to make sure the flames did not spread to nearby brush.
