The Golden State Water Company's (GSWC's) motion to prevent the Casitas Municipal Water District (CMWD) from filing for attorney fees and damages has been denied. The ruling was made Aug. 3 by Ventura Superior Court Judge Vincent O'Neill.
Filed earlier this month, the motion was drafted by GSWC attorney George Soneff. It sought to block a civil portion of CMWD's larger eminent domain suit against GSWC, seeking damages for expenses. The plaintiffs could not hold GSWC civilly liable for GSWC's constitutional right to petition the government, the motion argued.
