The Ventura County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to direct staff to draft language that would prohibit unhosted short-term rentals in residential neighborhoods in the unincorporated areas of the county.
The draft is expected to define the practice of short-term renting as a commercial activity, meaning it should not be allowed in residential neighborhoods.
The Board agreed to allow for certain exemptions, including home-share arrangements.
A home-share, also referred to as a hosted rental, is one in which the homeowner lives on the premises.
