CPUC will hold hearing on Playhouse repairs

Bill Warner, Ojai Valley News reporter

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has scheduled a pre-hearing conference Aug. 9 in Los Angeles regarding the Ojai Playhouse. Representatives from the city of Ojai and Golden State Water Company (GSWC) are expected to attend.

“The CPUC is trying to figure out what it can or cannot do regarding the Playhouse,” Ojai attorney Ryan Blatz said Monday. “And if they decide they can do anything, they'll then figure out whether it's worth doing.”

Acting at the request of the city of Ojai, Blatz filed a complaint with the CPUC in June, asking the Commission to investigate the disposition of the Ojai Playhouse, which has been closed since sustaining structural damage caused when a GSWC water main broke July 20, 2014. According to Blatz, the CPUC could investigate and at least present an appreciation of the case, if not an outright order for the GSWC to resolve it.
