County sales tax increase may be headed for vote

The Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC) voted unanimously Friday to place a one-half cent transportation sales tax on Ventura County’s November 2016 ballot.

If passed by voters, the measure is expected to raise about $70 million per year over 30 years to repair the region’s aging transportation infrastructure.

“This measure is all about preserving our quality of life in Ventura County,” said VCTC Chair and Moorpark City Councilman Keith Millhouse. “Keeping our roads in good repair, easing gridlock on our freeways and providing mobility for seniors and young people are fundamental to the quality of life Ventura County residents deserve.”
