With no opposition from members of the City Council, and much support from members of the general public, the Ojai City Council on Tuesday night approved a measure that directs the city attorney to draft a new ordinance to allow backyard beekeeping within city limits.
Mayor Pro Tem William Weirick brought the item before the council for discussion. He said the draft ordinance still has a series of checks and balances to go through, to allow for careful consideration and public discussion, but he expects it will be passed.
