Stage 3 considered: New restrictions could be on tap

With the water volume of Lake Casitas down to 41.4 percent and no prospect of appreciable rainfall in sight, the Casitas Municipal Water District (CMWD) is poised to enact Stage 3 conservation measures when its Board of Directors meets Wednesday.

In accord with the CMWD conservation plan, Stage 3 is mandatory when the lake's level falls into the 30 to 40 percent capacity range, a strong likelihood by July 1, the date on which the new restrictions would go into effect.
