Ojaians are certainly familiar with the sight of pump heads bobbing up and down along Highway 33. What many don’t realize is the productivity of the oil field that lies beneath.
During the last century, the Ventura oil field, comprised of approximately 4,300 acres of largely unincorporated county land, has produced 1 billion barrels of oil, according to Aera Energy spokesperson Michele Newell.
That’s 42 billion gallons of oil.
